Hello, dear friend,
First of all, I want to wish you a very happy New Year! I hope this year is going to be filled with love and happiness.
Today I’m going to talk about one of my favourite subjects: animals!
I already mentioned once that animals in my world differ from yours. Here, they are very much sentient, and just as intelligent as humans. To make sure I don’t give you any wrong information, I invited my dear friend, Suri, to join me today.
Remember when I told you about our vehicles and devices, and I compared them to yours? I will do this again to help you understand what we are talking about. But keep in mind that our animals might be a little bit different from yours.
First, Suri will tell you something about her own species:
Hi everyone! I am Suri and I am a womkey. I look like what you call a meerkat. I am a small mammal with a short snout, big eyes, a large tail and a brindled coat pattern. I mostly love veggies, but I eat almost everything Hayden eats too. I think my favourite meal is Hayden’s boyfriend's famous rice recipe. It is delicious!
Hayden here again. Suri is too busy smacking her lips (she’s reminding me a lot of Lowell right now), so I think it’s better if I continue. As you can see, Suri can read and write. Each animal species has their own language, but almost all of them know how to understand humans as well. Lowell and I taught Suri how to write, and she’s getting better and better at it.
Most humans are a bit arrogant (or lazy) and refuse to learn any animal languages. I must shamefully admit that I was no different when I was a teen. I didn’t literally refuse to learn it, but I simply never tried to, and I should have. Thankfully, you don’t always need words to communicate, so I was able to understand Suri most of the time right from the beginning. I quickly picked up some words after that, but it took me a long time to fully understand her language. I’m glad to say that I now finally do.
Besides animals, there are some other creatures Lowell and I used to call ‘beasts’ when we were still living in the Wastelands. I must admit I don’t know much about them, except that they are dangerous and you should keep away from them. As I’m writing this, I realise I should probably try to learn more about them. I’m sorry I can’t tell you more.
Animals, on the other hand, are (mostly) harmless. Womkeys in particular are known for their kind nature. Of course, just like humans, there are animals that aren’t very friendly at all, but that has nothing to do with their species, just with who they are as an individual.
To end this post, I will give you a short list of some of our animals and their earth equivalents: Womkey – Meerkat
Pingó – Penguin (This is my boyfriend’s absolute favourite. I’m secretly planning a trip to Korora to visit a group of pingós I’ve been in contact with, but don’t tell him, because it’s a surprise.)
Lupicano – Wolf
Gamal – Camel
Pigóne – Pigeon
Whiskra – Cat
There are many more, so if there is one animal in particular that you love and you are wondering if they also exist in my world, feel free to leave a message!
Thanks again for reading my blog. It means a lot <3
Until next month!
Warmest wishes,
Hayden Navarro
